-Potential Spoilers for WandaVision Episode 8- Posted Feb 24th

After seeing “Agatha All Along” climb music charts to the top, it’s obvious that WandaVision is resonating with people in a way fans never thought would happen in this superhero themes sitcom parody Tv show. Episode after episode, viewers both casual and diehard have been eager to find out what happens next! And at last, a long standing theory of Agnus being Agatha Harkness has come true and the satisfaction of this prediction has been seemingly sweet. However, although Wanda has her sights set on Agatha as the evil villain she must take down to save her family, Agatha is about to prove everyone wrong. Not only will she prove this to the viewers, but to Wanda as well, gaining her trust using one of the oldest tricks in the book.

Time and time again, throughout literature and other media, there is a common trope that has been used to show a character who has lost their way, that what they are experiencing is not just their own. Showing the character with their own eyes that their actions affect others in ways they do not see, or that they are misremembering events because our own perspective is usually a selfish one. I’m talking about the “Ghost of Christmas Past.” If you are unfamiliar with Charles Dickens and his work or the many imitations to come after, I will take a moment to break down the idea. Essentially a character in a story who has been antagonistic throughout the beginning will be visited by what is usually but not always a ghost relating to their past. This ghost with the help of magic will take the character on a journey through their past, typically three major events that led them to where they are in life now. Each memory serves as a lesson in the hopes to show the character a way to improve their own life and the lives around them. Often our own perspective is very biased and the theory is that Agatha Harkness is about to take Wanda on that very journey down memory lane.

Now Agatha plays by her own rules and she might shop at Hot Topic but she is NOT evil! Fans of the comics and people who have read my last article may already be expecting this. Agatha is not a book to judge by its cover and will surprise many viewers when she helps Wanda find her way through the chaos surrounding her. Helping her sift through her past is the key to her pain and although the troupe may not be true to form, the lessons will definitely be taught. However not all of the memories may be familiar to fans or even Wanda. One of two scenarios seems most likely, either we visit memories strictly from Wanda in the MCU or we will see memories from the perspective of Wanda and Pietro from another reality or universe. The reality where “recast” Pietro is originally from. It is hard to believe that Even Peters returning as Pietro is a throw away. If they wanted to do that then they could have cast literally anyone else and told us it was her brother recast. Either way, we will learn about the twins in their childhood, a time we have seen and known extremely little of. Episode 8 is most likely laying down the foundation of the Multiverse, an idea that has been repeatedly teased to fans time after time. And will be explored in the upcoming film Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness. Wanda Maximoff (Elisabeth Olsen) rumored to have a major role in the film. A reveal of this magnitude could set up the show’s penultimate episode to be the next game changer for the MCU. Leading us into the Eternals, and Spiderman: No Way Home which is also rumored to deal with a multiverse driven plot. I suppose without the Time Stone we will have to wait till Feb. 26th to find out what will happen next on WandaVision.
